An aged-care worker has been stood down after allegedly assaulting a 100-year-old resident in their care.

It is unclear on what day the alleged attack took place at the residential aged-care home, Villa Saint Hilarion, but it is understood it occurred in recent days.

In a statement, the organisation’s chief executive officer Dr Carol Davy said it took such allegations seriously.

“The alleged offender was removed from the workplace immediately and has been stood down while the investigation proceeds,” Ms Davy said.

Police attended the facility after the alleged assault was reported.

“About 3.30pm on Friday 2 July, western district patrols were called to a Fulham aged-care facility in regards to allegations of an assault,” a police spokeswoman said. “The investigation is ongoing.”

The victim’s son, Paul Bratovic, told 7NEWS his mother was “dragged and thrown around like a rag doll”.

“She had her nightie ripped off her … I saw her last night (Friday night), and she’s got bruises on her arms, so she’s actually been pulled or dragged as well,” Mr Bratovic said.

The Society of Saint Hilarion said it had notified the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission of the incident, which has been contacted for comment.
