Adelaide Zombie Walk, a charity fundraiser for Foodbank SA, to run for final time on October 12
This Saturday will be the last Zombie Walk through Adelaide. It’s become too much of a brain drain for its organisers – but they want this last stand to be the biggest charity fundraiser yet.

The Adelaide Zombie Walk is on its last legs, after terrorising the living on city streets for more than a decade.
For one night a year, thousands of undead shuffle through the East End, raising money for Foodbank SA.
Nearly $80,000 has been donated over the years.
But the couple behind the family-friendly event, Jason and Ann Bansemer, will hang up their boots after this year’s walk.
“We’ve been putting a lot of our own money and time into it, and we just don’t have that time anymore,” Mrs Bansemer said.
“This has taken a huge toll on us. It’s extremely stressful, it’s financially and emotionally stressful and it’s taken us away from the most important thing to us both ... our family. It’s ran its course.”
Mrs Bansemer, who took part in the first Zombie Walk in 2007, took over the event in 2009. Since then, she’s married and had four children.
Last year’s walk won Community Event of the Year at the Australia Day Awards.
But as much as the Bansemers enjoyed putting on the charity event, the decline in donations and support made organising increasingly hard.
Mrs Bansemer said nobody would take it over, and urged walkers to make the last one on Saturday the biggest yet.
She hoped to crack the $100,000 mark for total donations to Foodbank.
Food and game stalls and face painters will be at Rundle Park from 3pm.
Best (or worst) dressed zombies will be announced before the walk begins at 7pm.
