Adelaide set to sweat as authorities issue heatwave warning

Metropolitan Adelaide will reach almost 40C this week with emergency services issuing a heatwave warning for parts of the state.

South Australians can expect a midweek temperature increase as forecasts reach as high as 43C in some parts of the state.

The State Emergency Service issued a low intensity heatwave alert for the North West Pastoral district on Monday.

Adelaide will see warm temperatures during the beginning of the week with a high of 25C on Monday, 28C on Tuesday but shooting up to 34C on Wednesday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a high of 38C on Thursday with a low of 23C and mostly sunny.

As we enter the weekend, temperatures will decrease to 32C on Friday, 28C on Saturday and 30C on Sunday.

Moomba in the state’s northeast is forecast to reach 43C on Saturday with a low of 28C.

Oodnadatta in the state’s north will experience similarly hot week with a high of 43C on Friday.

The forecast for Port Augusta show a high of 42C on Thursday, Mount Gambier with a high of 35C and Port Lincoln with a high of 33C.
