Adelaide drivers have reacted with fury and frustration over a cyclist riding through a red light, questioning whether “they have their own rules” on the road.

But as the last car turns from the side street, and with the traffic light still red, the video posted to Dashcams Adelaide’s Facebook captured the bike rider cross through the intersection.
Some commenters responded in defence of the cyclist, one saying “it actually clears congestion and keeps cyclists safer”.
But many reacted with anger at the situation, arguing “if drivers have to follow the rules, why don’t cyclists”.
“This is the reason why cyclists should have number plates,” one person said.
“And you wonder why cyclist get a bad name come on let's be more responsible,” another commenter said.
Earlier this year, the wife of a cyclist killed in a freak road accident called for fresh road safety campaigns to warn cyclists of dangers on the road.
Margaret Vandenberg, 57, from North Plympton, whose husband Chief Petty Officer Kane Vandenberg died in 2013, said the tragic loss of her husband makes her even more frustrated with some “self-righteous” cyclists who ignore road rules and place themselves and other road users at risk.
The Advertiser reported in March that some cohorts of cyclists were “flouting” road rules, riding up to four abreast on busy main roads around Adelaide.
Bike SA said in March cyclists breaking road rules were in the minority, and “the vast majority of cyclists follow road rules and ride responsibly.”
An SA Police spokesman said cyclists had to abide by the same road rules as all other users – though they did not clarify the penalties a cyclist faces for breaking the rules.
“If a cyclist is captured by a camera, police endeavour to identify them and apply the appropriate penalties,” they said.
