Adelaide records coldest day this year as frost warnings are issued
The mercury won’t be budging anytime soon, as authorities warn the city could cop a soaking early next week.

Adelaide is set for a cold weekend with temperatures not expected to exceed 15C all week as the mercury dropped to its lowest temperatures so far this year in the city.
The chilly forecast comes ahead of a cold front that could see parts of the city cop up to 20mm of rain early next week.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Jenny Horvasaid the West Tce gauge recorded Adelaide at 3.7C on Wednesday morning, but that didn’t scare off swimmers at Henley Beach.
“The last time we saw 3.7C was on the 13th of September,” Ms Horvat said
The clear skies and light winds helped the temperatures drop to freezing temperatures, and residents in the northern suburbs being hit with a high of 0.6C early Wednesday morning.
Other areas with the coldest temperatures on Wednesday included Edinburgh at 1.5C, Tarcoola at -4.5C and Nuriootpa at -1.1C.
Fog blanketed parts of the Murraylands, Eyre Peninsula, Upper South East and Murray River on Wednesday morning.
Ms Horvat said Adelaide could see up to 20mm of rain on Monday.
“The next significant front will hit early next week,” she said.
Despite the frosty temps swimmer Kialah Hanson, 17, still braved the swell at Henley Beach on Wednesday morning.
The Modbury teenager has been taking part in Salty Sips for about a year, which sees dozens of people brave the cold and go for a swim at Henley Beach every Wednesday.
She said today was the coldest morning she remembers.
“It was freezing; we are still trying to defrost,” she said.
“I just ran in and hope for the best, once you get under you’re OK because you kind of go numb.”
The Open Access College student said the coffee was needed to warm up.
Minimum temperatures will double on Thursday, with a low of 7C and a top of 15C.
It comes as Brisbane shivered through its coldest day in more than 20 years on Tuesday, dropping to 12C.
The dry weather has brought the colder temperatures, with June recording heavy rain and destructive storms keeping State Emergency Service crews busy.
