Adelaide Airport launches valet parking service, starting at $85 per day

High-flying Adelaide Airport travellers will soon have access to an all-inclusive new service – allowing you to drop your car at the gate and go.

Adelaide Airport’s plan to bring back direct international flights

High-flyers at Adelaide Airport will soon be able to drop their cars at the gate and go, with a new all-inclusive valet parking service to add a touch of luxury to the travel experience.

A new outdoor carpark as part of a $1bn investment will also offer additional short-term parking capacity as post-pandemic travel continues to ramp up.

Starting from $85 a day, customers will be able drop off their vehicle directly outside the southern doors of the terminal, hand their keys to a valet attendant and head straight upstairs to check-in.

A seven-day booking will be $345 drive-up, with lower rates for travellers who book online.

It’s the first time customers will be able to access a valet since 2020, when Qantas halted its service – which was restricted to Qantas customers.

Adelaide Airport managing director Brenton Cox said, with the new service, any customer flying with any airline to any destination would be able to use valet parking.

Mr Cox said, for travellers heading away for nine or more days, it actually worked out cheaper to use the service than to park in the short-term terminal car park.

The service will be available seven days a week, 365 days a year, from 4.30am until 11.30pm, and will be operated with the support of First Class Valet – a national operator of valet services for major venues and events.

“Our new valet at Adelaide Airport will offer a convenient service and excellent value for our customers,” Mr Cox said.

“Vehicles will be stored in a secure outdoor parking area. Initial capacity will be approximately 270 vehicles, but with the option to expand the service as demand increases.”

Mr Cox said the construction of a new outdoor short-term car park adjacent to the existing multistorey car park would also cater for increased demand in drive-up parking.

“With our parking facilities again reaching 100 per cent at peak times, we are expanding our short-term carparking, initially through additional at-grade parking adjacent the multistorey car park,” he said.

“Improved signage at the long-term car park, taxi lay-off and rideshare pick-up areas has also been installed over the past year to improve wayfinding for customers arriving back at Adelaide Airport.”

The announcement comes as a $70m upgrade of Adelaide Airport’s main runway hits the halfway mark – the first project in a pipeline of developments designed to improve the safety and travel experience for thousands of passengers.

The $1bn cash injection is described as the airport’s “single biggest ever capital investment program”.

Mr Cox said more than $300m would be spent on terminal-related projects, starting with security upgrades later this year, followed by expansions of the terminal to the north and south, to cater for forecast demand increases.
