Travel plans for Gather Round punters will not be derailed this weekend, the state government said, despite rail operators proposing to take industrial action over pay disputes.
The proposed low-level industrial action - including refusing to wear uniform - would see about 200 members from the Rail, Tram and Bus Union, fight for better pay and working conditions.
Disruptions to the network could start from Saturday morning but the union has not confirmed how many services will be affected, 7News reported.
“The cost of living has been an ongoing issue, we simply need to see a better outcome for wages and some conditions,” SA/NT Secretary Darren Phillips told 7News.
However, a government spokesman said the issue is between Keolis Downer and the union.
“The private operator has informed us it doesn’t expect Gather Round services to be affected,” they said.
“This is an industrial matter between Keolis Downer and the union, as we encourage them to resolve it quickly.”
The Rail, Tram and Bus Union has been contacted for comment.
