The ABC has not revealed how much it cost to send their Adelaide morning show to Paris this week on an Olympics mission.

The broadcaster announced ABC Mornings presenters Sonya Feldhoff and Jules Schiller would present their breakfast show live from the Games, alongside legendary sports presenter Bruce McAvaney.

As part of their 15-day trip, the ABC said the pair would be there to “provide additional reporting on the ground and to present the local breakfast show every day”.

In a statement to The Advertiser, the ABC did not initially reveal the overall cost of the trip.

McAvaney, who has commentated on every summer Olympics since 1980, announced his retirement in 2021 but was called back into service by the ABC for its coverage of the 2024 games.

Last week on their show, McAvaney told his soon-to-be co-hosts that he reached out to the ABC personally about opportunities to take part in the coverage.

“I was looking forward to the games like everyone is, but I did feel a little disconnection and sadness in a way that these opportunities I had over the years weren’t going to continue,” he said.

“It’s like a gift to be honest and it came out of nowhere.”

The 2024 Paris Olympics run from Friday, July 27, to Sunday, August 11.
