South Australia has recorded its second case of monkeypox after a man returned from overseas with the virus.

SA Health said the man is isolating at home.

Two people identified as being in close contact with the man have been advised to receive the MPX vaccine.

The Department of Health said there is no risk to public health, as SA Health will continue to test people with illnesses compatible with MPX.

This is the seconded recorded case in South Australia this year, after a returned traveller from overseas contracted the virus in June.

A report which includes monkeypox cases will be uploaded to SA Health online and updated weekly.

SA Health said it will notify the community if there is any risk to public health.
