A family has been left heartbroken by the deaths of three family members in just a few short months.
Chloe Maxine Kirkhope was just 33 when she died suddenly from diabetes complications in May.
It came just months after the death of her father and grandfather, with her older brother Raymond Dreschler admitting her death has “just been too much” for the family.
“She was a fabulous person,” Mr Dreschler said.
Mr Dreschler explained that his sister had “one of the kindest hearts”, even recently taking in a friend’s daughter to care for.
“She had the kindest of … souls and just watching her be a mum, I’d love to watch more of that, but that’s not going to happen,” he said
“So that will be one of my fondest memories, is sitting there and watching my sister have some joy at trying to be a parent.”
The Kirkhope family, from Elizabeth East in Adelaide, are now hoping to raise money to cover the costs of her funeral.
“We’ve had three funerals to pay for, my dad, our pop, and even our dad’s dog,” Mr Dreschler said.
“(His dog) was the last living piece that we had left of him. So, you know, when it rains, it pours, they say.
“It’s just a lot of loss, we just don’t have anything left.”
Her mother Lisa Swift, 57, explained in a heartfelt GoFundMe post created by the family that they are determined to give her a dignified send off.
“Everything one after the other, it’s just been too much. Every time the phone rings, I’m waiting for someone to tell me that something else is wrong,” Ms Swift said.
“We’ve spent over $25,000 on funerals (this year). We just want to give Chloe the send-off she deserves.”
