A woman who had her staffy puppy stolen in what she believes was a planned dognap this week is pleading to the culprit to return her by Christmas.
Rhiannon Green purchased the puppy she named Erin Phillips, after the Adelaide Crows Women’s player, on Wednesday December 9 through a Facebook page.
Six days later, she received a message from another Facebook user – who saw she had purchased the dog through the page – offering bedding and food.
“She offered to drop the stuff off for free, food, bedding and blanket,” Ms Green, 32, said.
When the stranger dropped the things to Ms Green’s Davoren Park address on Tuesday, she was preoccupied accepting the bag of goods from the woman, and did not notice her taking the dog.
“By the time I got out of there (my doorway) she was halfway down the driveway.
“It was shock, I started running, and screamed at them (the car driving away).”
CCTV footage from her Laverton Street property shows the ordeal, including the stranger running to the white car out the front of Ms Green’s home, before she drove away.
“She got out of the front seat (on arrival) and got back into the back seat (on her departure), this was planned.”
A distressed Ms Green ran inside, and called her mother.
“I was on the floor in tears, I honestly couldn't breathe properly.”
Ms Green is pleading to the thief to return her puppy.
“I used all the money I had saved up to buy her ($1300).
“I am furious, but there’s no point in being aggressive, because it’s done now. At the end of the day, if I know she’s safe and can get updates on her that’s OK, but if not, I want her home.”
She reported the incident to police on Tuesday, but urged anyone with information to contact her through her Facebook page: Rhi Green.
Erin had her first veterinary health check, but was booked to receive microchipping this week.
