An elderly woman has destroyed her new 4WD after ploughing down an embankment at Sheidow Park, causing an estimated $60,000 in damages.
Around midday on Thursday, SA Police, SA Ambulance and the Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) were called to Whitehill Court, where the driver of a black Mazda had lost control of the vehicle crashing through a fence, down a slope and into the side of a house.
An MFS spokesperson said the woman was able to free herself from the car before emergency services arrived at the scene.
The woman, in her 70s, escaped serious injury, but was transported to the Flinders Medical Centre with back pain.
The vehicle has been written off and is said to be a 2021 model, costing approximately $40,000.
The wall of the house is showing some signs of structural damage, estimated to be around $20k.
No one was home at the time of the accident.
SA Police were called in to tow the vehicle due to the steep angle.
The woman’s dog was also in the car and was unharmed.
The pup received a lift home in an ambulance, according to 7NEWS.
The accident comes only days after a courier driver wedged his van between a house and a fence just south of the city.
The Toyota van appears to have damaged a significant portion of the fence and was perched diagonally against the house wall in Torrens Park.
An MFS spokesman said crews were called to the unusual scene at about 8.17am.
Two trucks and eight firefighters were on scene for about two hours and said the driver of the van made a delivery to a nearby school and left his handbrake off.
The vehicle rolled through the fence, over a retaining wall and ended up wedged against the house.
MFS crews secured the vehicle with winches and ensured there was no damage to the house.
No one was injured in the accident and the van was towed.
