72-year-old northern suburbs Adelaide man arrested and charged with rape, indecent assault

Police have appealed for the public’s help after charging an elderly Adelaide man with allegedly raping and indecently assaulting a woman while working as a gardener for her.

A 72-year-old man from the northern suburbs has been arrested over the alleged sexual assault of a woman known to him during the past six months.

The man was charged with four counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault.

Police say he was providing gardening services for the woman at her property.

Detectives from the Northern District Criminal Investigation Branch arrested the man on July 1.

He was refused bail and appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday July 4 where he was remanded in custody.

He was granted home detention bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on October 24

Police said investigators wanted to speak to anyone who had information about the matter or who had been the victim of anything similar.
