A man who was seriously injured after a car ploughed into a popular pizzeria in Wattle Park has been identified as 54-year-old Marcello Cocca – who has a close connection to the business.
On Saturday night, a woman driving a Holden Astra sedan crashed through the glass windows of Euro Pizza & Restaurant, seriously injuring Mr Cocca and leaving three others with minor injuries.
Mr Cocca was admitted to Royal Adelaide Hospital after the incident where he remains in a stable condition.
Company records show Marcello Marco Peter Cocca, of Campbelltown, is a director of Renpal Pty Ltd, which is “principally” located at the shopping centre address.
The records, which have been lodged with the corporate watchdog, the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, show Renpal is also listed as being involved with the Euro Pizza & Restaurant.
A private function being held at the family restaurant located on Kensington Rd had between 40 and 50 guests in attendance at the time of the crash.
The other three victims – a 44-year-old man, a 44-year-old woman and a seven-year-old boy were taken to hospital for observation and the released.
It is believed the 42-year-old driver of the car had mistakenly put her car into drive, instead of reverse, causing the vehicle to smash through the shop front window.
The windows have since been boarded up and glass shards from the broken windows remain scattered in front of the restaurant.
