Beachgoers have been warned to look out for a 4-metre great white shark which has been spotted at Maslin Beach on Saturday.

Police issued an alert on social media at about 2.30pm, saying a shark was seen 100m offshore from the beach’s northern carpark, and was moving further north.

“Please be advised there have been multiple sightings of this shark in the area today,” the alert said.

It comes after a string of shark sightings earlier in the week, including three on Tuesday.

Several sharks including a 2m bronze whaler have been spotted at Port Willunga, O’Sullivans and Aldinga beaches. One was spotted only 50m from shore.

Last Sunday, a 3-metre great white shark was seen at Aldinga Beach about 100m from shore. Four bronze whaler sharks were also sighted at Christies Beach at the end of last month.

Last month, Surf Lifesaving SA announced more drones, more pilots and more cameras would be rolled out this summer as it prepares to improve safety for swimmers and beachgoers.
