A 27-year-old man has been arrested over the murder of 21-year-old William Holdback, the young man who died on a Welland street last week.
Police will allege that at 1.30am on Wednesday, April 10, emergency services were called to Barrpowell St and found Mr Holdback dying of critical injuries.
Witnesses attempted to render assistance to Mr Holdback, a former Concordia College student, but he died at the scene.
Mr Holdback had apparently walked to nearby Musgrave St for a late-night rendezvous with men who arrived in a car.
Police allege a brief argument occurred and Mr Holdback fled into Barrpowell St where he was allegedly fatally stabbed by the passenger of the vehicle.
CCTV shows the driver of the vehicle drove the BMW into Barrpowell St and collected the person who allegedly stabbed Mr Holdback, and they left the scene.
Detectives believe that the two suspects then travelled in the BMW north on South Rd from Welland, then east along the Port River Expressway.
They then drove the length of the Salisbury Highway and into John Rice Ave.
Late on Saturday, detectives went to the suspect’s northern suburbs home and arrested a 27-year-old man.
He has been charged with murder and was refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
The BMW was seized from the home and the owner was interviewed by police.
That person’s role in the alleged murder is the subject of an ongoing investigation.
