SA Police have charged an Adelaide Hills man, 50, with numerous counts of theft after a lengthy joint operation with Queensland Police.

About $960,000 worth of stolen equipment was recovered in South Australia and Queensland, including heavy earth-moving equipment and farming equipment, all stolen between 2006 and 2015.

The haul included a 13.5m-long purpose-built car racing transport semi-trailer - owned by Dack Attack Motorsports - which was stolen from Burra last August.

The Adelaide Hills man has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in April.
