TAXPAYERS have been promised maximum transparency on how much cash has been handed out to businesses, and the number of jobs actually delivered, in a Liberal Party pledge.
Opposition treasury spokesman Rob Lucas said the Liberals would finally reveal to taxpayers the full cost of luring disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong to the Tour Down Under, as well as “open up the books” on the State Government’s multi-million dollar industry grants scheme.
Premier Jay Weatherill has pledged to increase funding for his investment attraction agency if re-elected and boasts taxpayer funds have lured companies like Boeing and Tesla to SA.
Mr Lucas said American company ProTom International had confirmed they would have set up shop in SA even without a $10 million taxpayer “gift”, and the public had a right to know the terms and conditions on a range of other handouts he believed were election “stunts”.
That would include but not be limited to deals with Tesla and Violet Crumble, he said.
