A TEENAGER has been charged with serious drug offences after police intercepted a drug package delivered to a post office worth $200,000.

Detective Senior Sergeant officer in charge of Sunshine Coast District CIB Daren Edwards said an 18-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after police busted more than 270g of MDMA concealed in a box at Coolum Beach post office.

Working closely with Australia Post and Australian Border Force, police intercepted the drugs concealed in computer equipment last week and a further package yesterday.

Police believed the drugs were ordered online from an overseas outlet with a street value of $200,000.

Det Snr Sgt Edwards said the Peregian Beach man was one of two arrested in relation to drug importation in the last month and police were investigating people with further involvement.

"It is believed the people arrested have been involved in this for several months," Det Snr Sgt Edwards said.

"The drugs are of significant purity and it's disappointing our young people see the need to ingest this without knowing what is really is."

Police believed the drugs were destined for the Sunshine Coast market in a "planned and deliberate" operation.

Det Snr Sgt Edwards said the 18-year-old man was not known to police, which was even more distressing.

"It's quite alarming that someone never involved with police is involved with something as serious as drug trafficking and importation," he said.

Det Snr Sgt Edwards had a strong message for anyone involved in overseas drug importation - you will be caught.

"There are serious charges in relation to theses activities, including imprisonment," he said.

"Between these interceptions and the Australian Border Force, this is unfortunately common through Australia Post.

"People are getting caught - you will get caught."

The Peregian Beach man will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
