WHAT began as a side project is now a fully-fledged boutique brewery, nine years in the making.

Heads of Noosa Brewing Co. was unveiled to the public earlier this year, the brainchild of brothers Craig and Lance Masterton.

The former self-taught stock brokers turned beer barons enlisted the services of a German master brewer to create their small brand.

But now with a destination in Noosaville, punters can call in for their favourite drop.

The 1500sq m site is a sign of just how far their brand has come - three years ago they were brewing from home, with 50 litre batches.

"We opened our tap room just a few weeks ago, before that people had to find our beers in pubs,” Craig said.

"It's basically a bar/shopfront in the industrial estate. And it's a great way to showcase our product and connect people with the brand.”

Their product too, is something pubs and hotels around the tourist hotspot were demanding.

"They'd always ask us, how long till we can sell your beer?” he said.

"So it must be good. We were lucky enough to meet a German brewer who still guides us to the day.

"We both have a background in the stock market, but when the GFC hit things changed. We got tired of it.

"We always loved having a beer too. But we were surrounded by mainstream stuff. So we decided to change it.”

Heads of Noosa Brewing Co. are predominantly focus on lagers.

"We have a Japanese style which is great for the Queensland climate, and an Amber lager called Summer Dusk,” he said.

"The amber has a bit more malt, dry hops and a bit more flavoursome. Still easy drinking with a clean finish.”

The brothers are currently in the process of bottling their beer, which will take their brand to the next level.
