A major inland highway has been closed this morning following a horror double fatal overnight near the Queensland-NSW border.
Two drivers have tragically died after two trucks collided 35km north of Moree on the Newell Highway.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 10pm on Monday night, finding a tipper truck and a B-double had collided.
Both drivers tragically died at the scene and have been identified as a 25-year-old man and a 63-year-old man.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
As at about 8am Tuesday morning Transport for NSW reported the Newell Highway near Success Park Rd was closed in both directions.
The highway is closed north of Moree at Boggabilla Rd, and south from Boggabilla at the Bruxner Highway intersection.
NSW police recommends drivers use diversions and allow for extra travel time due to police investigations, recovery and clean-up which “are expected to take some time”.
Transport NSW has reported 37 fatalities this year relating to heavy vehicles in the state, with the majority of fatalities being other motor vehicle passengers and drivers.
