A murder charge against a man accused of shooting a Mackay mum as she was parked in her driveway will remain suspended until at least mid 2026 as this case plays out in another court.

Ryan Geoffrey Cole is accused of walking up to a car in the driveway of a Robb Place home in West Mackay and shooting 34-Natalie Frahm multiple times in front of two children, before allegedly turning the weapon on a neighbour who ran to help.

James ‘Jimmy’ McGill, then 66, who was nearby visiting his 89-year-old mother’s home at the time, suffered a bullet wound to the chest and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The terrible scenes unfolded about 4.30pm on June 19, 2024 before police embarked on a three-hour manhunt across Mackay.

Mr Cole, then 31, was taken into custody about 7.45pm at the Paget KCF/BP service station.

He is charged with Ms Frahm’s murder and the attempted murder of Mr McGill.

No pleas have been entered and police have previously said there was nothing to suggest Mr Cole and Ms Frahm were known to each other.

The case against Mr Cole was mentioned briefly on Tuesday in Mackay Magistrates Court which heard it would be at least another seven months until a ruling was made on whether the case would even proceed.
His barrister Kate Juhasz said the matter was before the Mental Health Court in Brisbane, psychiatric reports had been received, and a capacity hearing was listed for mid 2026.

The court heard once the hearing was finished it could be months before there was a decision.

Magistrate Damien Dwyer listed the case for late June for mention.
