Sunshine Coast traffic: 17 injured in three crashes

Seventeen people have been injured in three separate crashes on the Sunshine Coast, including one that blocked northbound lanes of the M1 Bruce Highway.

THE northbound lanes of the Bruce Hwy are completely blocked after a horror crash left four people injured.

The crash occurred at Tanawha, close to the Ilkley Rd overpass, about 2pm.

Four people have been hospitalised in a stable condition, a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said.

Two were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital and two to Nambour Hospital.

Meanwhile, two more crashes on the Sunshine Coast have injured passengers and caused traffic nightmares.

Paramedics were called to a multi-vehicle crash on the corner of Ocean Dr and Nojoor Rd, at Twin Waters at 2.15pm, where seven people had been injured, a Queensland ambulance spokesperson said.

And at Mount Coolum, paramedics have responded to a two-vehicle crash where six people had been injured, including a passenger who was trapped.

The crash occurred on the southbound lanes of the Sunshine Motorway at 2.37pm, a Queensland ambulance spokesperson said.

The passenger who was trapped by their lower leg has been extricated from the car and all patients are being assessed by paramedics.Both lanes are blocked and long delays are expected.

Drivers are being urged to proceed with caution.
