BLUE bottles are invading beaches again this weekend with a change in wind conditions blowing them to shore.

More than 460 people were stung on Sunshine Coast beaches last Sunday alone with several patients suffering anaphylactic shock.

A Surf Life Saving Queensland spokesman said with changes to wind and tide predictions, the swarms were blowing back into populated areas.

While only 40 stings have been recorded on Coast beaches so far this weekend, he said that number was expected to increase.

"We do advise beach goers to be aware of the blue bottles.

"Check with lifesavers before going into the water if you're unsure.

"If you do get stung, see a lifeguard or lifesaver who will treat you with either warm water or ice.”

No beaches have been closed, but he said that was at the discretion of patrolling lifesavers.
