MOTORBIKE crash victim Jacob Mabb is clinging to life in a Brisbane hospital after being flown back to Australia from Indonesia.

The 21-year-old former Sunshine Coast surfing instructor was injured in Bali on Sunday last week.

Mr Mabb also played rugby for University of the Sunshine Coast and studied environmental science.

He was in an induced coma before being flown back to Brisbane on an RACQ LifeFlight air ambulance jet on Friday night.

A Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital spokesman said Mr Mabb was in a critical condition on Sunday morning.

An online fundraising page collected $49,984 for Mr Mabb in three days after concerns were raised his $100,000 medical evacuation would not be covered by insurance.

However, it has since been confirmed Mr Mabb's family's medical insurance would cover the mission.

The fundraising page has since been closed at the request of Mr Mabb's family.

"Jacob is now safely in Brisbane," a message on the page read.

"Thank you all for your your continuing support.

"The Mabb family are incredibly grateful."
