Tonia-Marie Rantucci could be on the verge of a breakout season if her opening round performance at her new club is anything to judge by.
Rantucci has long been considered one of the talents to watch from our region, and was one of the key women in Mareeba United’s push to the FNQ Premier League finals last year.
An off-season move to Leichhardt means she will link with coach Angelo Caravella, and she’s already made an impression on her new side, scoring a brace in the Lions’ big win against Stratford.

Caravella said Rantucci, who is a member of the QAS Regional talent ID squad and a state level player throughout her junior football career, is a promising talent.
“She’s a genuine goalscorer, and definitely one to look out for,” Caravella said.
“Hopefully she can put herself on the radar for some of the bigger clubs down south.
“She’s already in the sights of the right people.”
FNQ Football officials confirmed Leichhardt won that game 11-0, with four goals to Ria Collie and a double to Louise Fowler. Kaila Musumeci, who joined the club from Innisfail United, and Lydia Yong scored the Lions’ other goals.
Leichhardt will host JCU Strikers, who beat Innisfail United 9-0, on Saturday.
