A crime scene has been declared after a woman sustained life threatening injuries in a house fire at a Moreton Bay suburb.

Police and emergency services were called to reports of a house fire in Outlook Parade, Bray Park about 10.15pm on Wednesday.

A 45-year-old woman, who is believed to be one of three people home at the time of the fire, was evacuated and taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, in a stable condition, due to burns and smoke inhalation.

Neighbour Tristen Ahchow said his partner woke up to the sounds of screams.

“She ran down to make sure the kids were okay, she has then come out the front door and there is this massive orange blaze out the front,” he said.

“I’ve come running down after her and the neighbour’s house is on fire, flames were coming out of the bottom storey and covering up over the second storey balcony.

“There was a lady in there, she has come out covered in smoke and screaming.

“It was a bit frightening, we just wanted to make sure the lady was okay and try and get people away from the house.”

Resident Pat Keenan was lying in bed trying to go to sleep when the fire started.

“I was laying in bed I thought it was a possum banging around up in the ceiling because it has happened before,” he told The Courier-Mail.

“I looked out the sliding door and just seen the heat haze, the smoke and gone f**k the house is on fire.

“I raced downstairs to see what was going on and by then there’s flames leaping out of the bloody granny flat.

“It went up quick, real quick.”

Mr Keenan said he saw his housemate come out of the house shortly afterwards.

“Chris stumbled out of the bedroom from the other sliding door,” he said.

“She was coughing when she came out.”

Neighbour Linda Garrett rushed to help put out the fire with her garden hose.

“I woke to a bang, so I jumped out of bed to check on my daughter, she could hear a woman yelling for help, and I looked out the side window and saw the flames,” she said.

“I was like Helen’s house was on fire and called triple-0.

“I went downstairs and grabbed the garden house until the fire brigade got here.

“I was just hoping to get the flames out, get the fire out, hoping Clarissa is alright, and hope that Patty was alright.”

A crime scene has been declared and investigations into the cause of the fire remain ongoing.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said seven crews had responded to the blaze.

The fire was in the downstairs living area of the two-storey home.

Fire crews entered the home to fight the fire and it was extinguished at 11pm.

The Fire Investigation Unit will attend today.
