A woman and her baby have been put in hotel quarantine after another dramatic border breach on the Gold Coast at the weekend.

Police say the 26-year-old, who was driving with her 10-month-old baby, failed to stop at the M1 border checkpoint about 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

She crashed her car soon after into a guard rail at Exit 89 at Tallebudgera.

Gold Coast police acting chief superintendent Rhys Wildman said the woman was arrested at the scene, hit with a $4135 fine for breaching the border and she and her child were ordered into hotel quarantine for 14 days.

Supt Wildman said investigations were continuing.

She was the second female motorist who breached the border and crashed at the weekend.

An Ipswich woman, 21, was also placed into hotel quarantine and fined $4135 after speeding through the M1 checkpoint and crashing near a KFC outlet at Elanora on Saturday morning.

She was also charged with unlicensed and unregistered driving and driving without due care and attention.
