Person found dead after caravan engulfed by flames in Lockyer Valley

A man and his dog have died in a house and caravan fire in the Lockyer Valley.

An investigation is under way after a person and a dog perished in a fire at Seventeen Mile, in the Lockyer Valley, about 11am on December 3, 2025. The fire destroyed a home and caravan.

Investigators have returned to the scene of a house fire that claimed the life of a man and a dog on the fringe of the Lockyer State Forest at Helidon.

Emergency were called to the Seventeen Mile Road address about 11am on Wednesday and arrived to find a house and caravan on fire.

Four Queensland Fire Department crews attended an extinguished the blaze before a search located the remains of a dog in the house and a man in the caravan.

A QFD spokesman said the fire caused a significant amount of damage to both structures

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined though the inital report from the Queensland Police Service is that the matter is not being treated as suspicious.
