Mike Munro, 56, has passed away after suffering critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash at Harristown.

The father of two was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition after his motorcycle collided with a Mitsubishi Pajero at the intersection of a West and South streets about 3.55pm on June 18.

Initial investigations indicated that the Mitsubishi Pajero was travelling south on West St in the moments before a collision with Mr Munro, who was on a Triumph motorcycle travelling north.

He suffered life-threatening head and spinal injuries, as well as a serious leg injury.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics stabilised Mr Munro at the scene, before transporting him to Toowoomba Hospital and into a LifeFlight helicopter bound for the PA’s intensive care unit.

Sadly, he passed away on Tuesday evening despite several operations and regaining consciousness, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched to help his family.

Mr Munro’s passing came at what was a deadly time on our roads.

Police continue to investigate a single vehicle crash at Tummaville, near Millmerran about 2.40pm on Friday, June 28.

Their initial investigation indicated the young driver swerved to avoid a kangaroo and hit a tree, igniting the Toyota utility.

A 17-year-old male passenger in the vehicle escaped with minor injuries while the 18-year-old male driver from Warwick died at the scene.

Darling Downs Country Patrol Inspector Danny Shaw urged drivers to show great care on the roads, saying most crashes are avoidable.

“Please drive to the road conditions and be as careful as you can,” he said.

“It is so important that drivers look after themselves and their families, because the impact is so great.

“Crashes don’t just affect the people whose lives are lost, or who are seriously injured, but also their family, their friends, their loved ones, their workmates and the wider community.

“Consequences are widespread.

“People need to be mindful of the road condition, take their time getting from place to place because the human body is not designed to take the pressure of a crash well.”

The Queensland Police Service Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of both crashes and anyone with information is urged to phone Policelink on 131 000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
