A woman has been charged with murder after an elderly man was found dead at a property south of Brisbane.

Police were called to an address at Basie Court, Browns Plains yesterday about midday after the man was found unresponsive.

The 72-year-old man died at the scene while a woman known to him assisted police with investigations.

The woman charged with murder has been identified as 32-year-old Skye Sampson.

Browns Plains woman Skye Sampson, 32, was taken into custody and has since been charged with murder.

The 72-year-old was allegedly murdered on October 13, according to court documents. The triple-0 call was made on October 14.

Sampson’s matter was briefly mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.

She did not appear and bail can not be applied in relation to murder in the magistrates court.

Magistrate Shane Elliott adjourned the matter to December 12 in Beenleigh Magistrates Court with a brief of evidence ordered by December 11.

Sampson was remanded in custody.

Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said it was a “family relationship” when asked how the woman was related to the man.

He declined to go into details of the investigation or how the man died.

“Again as a domestic and family violence situation that’s gone tragically bad, we have seen a person murdered,” Mr Gollschewski said.

“I’ll commend the police, they have acted very quickly in this, the investigation has progressed to the stage that a 32-year-old woman has been charged with the death of that 72-year-old male.”

Kyla Williams-Billing, mother of two had lived across the road for five years and said she had heard screaming and yelling at the property on multiple occasions.

Ms Williams-Billing said she did not know the man living at the property with Ms Sampson but he would often be seen mowing the lawn or riding his push bike.

Multiple police vehicles and detectives were on scene at the home on Basie Court in Browns Plains on Monday afternoon.

Police tape lined front of the property with a blue tent pitched in the driveway.

A neighbour who did not wish to be named told the Courier Mail that the occupants of the house largely “kept to themselves” and had not interacted with them since they had moved in next door at the beginning of the year.

“We didn’t think it was that serious until detectives came knocking on the door.”

Another neighbour said she didn’t interact with the man who was found dead.

“I’ve just seen him get around on his push bike, goes to the shops comes back, mows his lawns,” she said.
