Australia’s current top-ranked bull rider was rushed to hospital with a head injury after coming off a bull at a professional event held in the Scenic Rim on Friday night.

The country’s top ranked rider - Jack Brodrick from NSW - was riding on the current number one bull in Australia Alpha Blokes Warden in the first round of competition at the 2025 PBR Beaudesert Invitational, Beaudesert Showgrounds, when he took a hit to the head while coming off the bull.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics were called to a trauma incident involving a bull at a private address at Beaudesert, just before 8.30pm.

According to QAS, a man in his 20s with potentially life-threatening head injuries was rushed to the Logan Hospital following the incident with the bull.

In a statement, PBR managing director Glen Young said the incident involved Mr Brodrick in the first round of competition.

“Jack took a hit to his head whilst being bucked off the bull, was treated immediately by medics and taken to hospital for further evaluation and x-rays,” Mr Young said.

“He was cleared of any broken bones but has a slight concussion and will be back for the event tonight but won’t be competing.

“We take all injuries seriously, especially the head knocks so at the time of the hit we were all worried for him.”

A second bull rider Western Australian competitor Isaac Leclair was also rushed to hospital after an incident involving a bull.

“Isaac was treated by medics on site and taken to hospital and spent the night in hospital for further evaluation,” Mr Young said.

“The team spoke to him this morning and he said he is feeling much better but is also out for the rest of the competition.”

Both riders were wearing helmets and will need doctor clearance before they will be allowed to return to PBR Competition.

The second round of competition at the PBR Beaudesert Invitational will take place this evening.
