Footage capturing the moment a Queensland mum of two allegedly used her car to run a man down following a road rage incident can be revealed for the first time since a driver charged over the incident was granted bail.
Vaey Montanna-Freya Varmora, of Mackay, is charged with attempted murder, which lawyers have said she planned to contest.
The video, a version of which was shared on social media and obtained by this publication, was played in Mackay Magistrates Court during a bail bid for Ms Varmora.
It appears to show Ms Varmora allegedly behind the wheel of a vehicle driven at a man, striking him and forcing him to roll over the bonnet.
The incident allegedly occurred about 5.15pm on January 5, 2025 on Goldsmith St.
Police allege Ms Varmora had cut off another driver at a roundabout and that other driver had become angry and tailgated the 27-year-old mum of two, who slammed on her brakes causing the two vehicles to collide.
This allegedly resulted in a verbal clash between Ms Varmora and the man and a woman, the driver of another vehicle and its passenger.
In the footage, all parties return to their vehicles.
The other vehicle is about to drive away when Ms Varmora appears to drive into it, before reversing and then driving at the man after he exits his car.
The footage then appears to show Ms Varmora driving at the man as he runs away.
She then turned her car around driving in the direction of the man a second time, hitting him and causing him to roll on and over her car’s bonnet, while she lost control and hit a tree.
The man ran onto the road and fell over before Ms Varmora reversed her car and drove in the direction of at the man a third time.
It is alleged she was driving about 10kmh during the incident.
Police seized the vehicle for forensic examination and search by investigators.
Ms Varmora was granted bail on the condition she was not allowed to drive a motor vehicle of any description until the case was finalised.
Matters will be mentioned again in March.
