WATCH: Gold Coast boat fire after gas bottle explosion

A boat has gone up in flames on a Gold Coast river after a gas bottle aboard exploded in a terrifying moment.

Emergency crews rushed to a boat ramp in Jacobs Well following reports of a marine fire just before 5.30pm on Friday.

The boat, which was a 30-foot cruiser, was about 30m from the shore.

One man, who was on the boat, was assessed by paramedics on shore.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said he had suffered no injuries and was not treated for smoke inhalation.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed the blaze had been caused by the gas bottle.

Locals posted a video of the unfolding incident, which showed a marine rescue boat heading towards the blaze.

More to come.
