Stressed and tired Aussies will be enticed to take a break in the Sunshine State when new Queensland holiday deals go on sale on Sunday.

Tourism & Events Queensland is offering more than 500 deals on accommodation, tours and cheap flights to encourage people feeling overwhelmed after a tough year to forget their woes for a few days.

The “Seize the Days” campaign this week features deals on select Virgin Australia flights, including $95 fares from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane to Cairns for $115 and Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast for $135.

Experience Oz is also providing $50 off tours and attractions for travellers cashing in on a quick Queensland getaway.

TEQ partnered with YouGov to survey more than 1600 Australians to gauge whether they felt they’d made the most of this year.

More than half said they hadn’t, while 43 per cent admitted to feeling tired and almost four in 10 are stressed and overwhelmed.

Habitat Noosa business development manager Kelly Cattanach said a holiday in nature was the best medicine for the soul.

“You can definitely see the shift and reset in people from when they first arrive to when they fully embrace the moment and the place they’re in, switching off from the pressures of everyday life,” she said.

“It gives a true sense to the meaning of a getaway, the chance to reboot through a real connection with nature and making memories with friends and family.”

The YouGov research found that despite the benefits of a holiday, a quarter of those surveyed don’t intend on taking any breaks in the next six months.

Of those who are planning a trip away, weekend getaways, road trips and beach holidays were the most popular.

Queensland Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the campaign was encouraging Queenslanders and interstate visitors to take a Queensland holiday break before Christmas.

“Seize the Days is all about irresistible deals on accommodation and visitor experiences to turn holiday dreaming into bookings,” Mr Hinchliffe said.

“It’s already October and that means the clock is running down on 2022 to experience more of Queensland’s great lifestyle before the start of the peak Christmas and New Year holiday season.
