A senior Australian Federal Police (AFP) executive has been charged after allegedly drink-driving in Queensland.

Queensland Police charged the employee with driving under the influence of alcohol (low range), contrary to section 79 of the Transport Operations (Road User Management) Act 1995 last week.

They are due to appear in court on Friday, August 1.

The AFP confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday and said it had launched an internal investigation under its integrity framework.
