Camilla Franks faces devastating blow

Camilla Franks has listed her fairytale-like Woollahra abode as a temporary rental home, as the fashion designer prepares to reunite with her partner JP Jones in Wales.

Franks purchased the four-bedroom, 1800s Victorian terrace, five years ago, when she thought it was time to trade her “travelling vagabond” lifestyle and secure a sanctuary away from her busy work life.

She affectionately calls her beloved home Villa Camilla and sees the space as her “oasis and sanctuary” where her love of art, travel and fashion come together.

Franks and her three-year-old daughter Luna are expected to fly to Europe next week to reunite with JP, an artist and musician.

The couple are in the process of organising dual citizenship for Luna.

Before the global pandemic, Franks and the family would spend part of the year at their cottage in Cowbridge, near Cardiff.

The couple have been separated for much of the past 18 months with the exception of JP flying in earlier this year. He, of course, conducted hotel quarantine.

In May, Franks revealed she had undergone heartbreaking surgery to remove her ovaries to protect herself from further cancers.

She had been initially diagnosed with breast cancer when Luna was a baby.

Known for her love of colour, Franks’ magical house is decorated with her eclectic eye and bright prints, pictures and treasures from her travels to the likes of Tibet, India and Africa cascade the walls.

There is striking floor-to-ceiling wallpaper made from her designs. There are also rugs designed by Oscar winning film and stage designer Catherine Martin.

Outside in the garden, her inspiration was Ibiza and Mykonos with rustic stone pavers and stunning Greek island white tones.

She worked with builder and carpenter Luke Collins on the designs.

Rental is tipped to be about $6000 per week, with a number of production companies in town for major Hollywood projects having viewed the property.

Around the corner on Queen St, Channel 7 commercial director Bruce McWilliam has his four-bedroom, four-bathroom house listed for $4000 a week.

Camilla opened a boutique store in Bondi Beach in 2004 and has gone on to develop an international clothing empire.

Her famous clients include Beyonce, Miranda Kerr and Oprah Winfrey.
