Police still hunting for ‘unknown male’ who slashed the face of a 59yo Larapinta man

June 16, 6.30am: A 59-year-old man’s face was slashed by an “unknown male” in Larapinta on Sunday morning, with the offender still at large.

Southern Watch Commander Marc Watson said the vicious attack occurred about 1.20am on Sunday morning at the victim’s Grant Rd residence.

Commander Watson said the victim had just arrived home when he was approached by an “unknown male”.

Following a brief conversation, the victim’s face was slashed by what police believe was a knife before the offender fled the scene, he said.

The 59-year-old victim remains in hospital with deep lacerations to his face and will undergo surgery.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact 131 444 and quote the reference number NTP2500060887.

June 16, 6am: Firefighters were called to assist in the apprehension of a rooftop robber late on Sunday night in Alice Springs.

Southern Watch Commander Marc Watson said police responded to reports of a break-in at the Epilogue Lounge bar in Todd Mall about 10pm.

A 15-year-old boy was sighted by CCTV operators leaving the scene and arrested shortly after, he said.

A 21-year-old man was also spotted running across rooftops where he was cornered by NT Police on top of a roof awning and arrested.

Commander Watson said NT firefighters were called to assist police in removing the alleged offender from the rooftop.

The two alleged offenders remain in custody and are expected to be charged with burglary offences.
