Peter Goers: Ignore the blatherskite of science-denying idiots and get vaccinated
No, Craig Kelly, being worm-free but dead isn’t as good as being Covid-free. The best way forward is to reject stupidity, writes Peter Goers.

This is the Methodist pandemic. No dancing.
It’s surprising that no-one has yet named their daughter Vaxeen or Vaxene.
Clive Palmer is the cane toad of Australian politics but at least his United Australia Party has finally united Australia. The entire nation is trying to work out how to block UAP’s Craig Kelly, who sends his blatherskite by text yet believes political parties should not be able to send unsolicited texts.
In trying to discourage Australians from Covid vaccination and promoting a worming medication, Craig Kelly has unwittingly encouraged vaccination.
He has a use, after all, and he’ll certainly be worm-free and won’t be running his itchy bottom along the carpet.
The world seems widdershins because of idiots who oppose science. Masks are a proven defence against the virus but politicians in Florida are banning the use of masks.
Stupid is as stupid does. Let’s celebrate the sensible among all the argy-bargy and dangerous nonsense.
The greatest living American, Dolly Parton, has subsidised and encouraged vaccination.
She told the world she’s getting vaccinated because she’s smart and she sang Vaccine to the tune of Jolene while being jabbed.
Show business has struggled through the pandemic and most entertainers are wisely encouraging their fans to get vaccinated. It’s the only way out of this mess.
Guy Sebastian apologised to his fans for his brief pro-vaccination stance. He’s the wrong guy to lead.
Sebastian’s followers may believe Jesus is their vaccine and Craig Kelly’s ignorant followers may feel it’s better to be worm-free and dead than Covid-free but the rest of us with a modicum of sense want to live and live and fully again.
Help yourself. Help others. Get vaccinated. Now.
The old normal is dead. Long live the new normal. Vaxxed.
The highlight of my day is seeing in The Advertiser the ever-increasing percentage of Australians who are vaccinated.
We were sadly slow to embrace the jab as a nation, which is an issue for the electorate, but we edge ever closer to the magic 80 per cent of the population vaccinated which will bring much hoped for concessions.
We need a universal vaccine passport. It used to be compulsory to travel internationally with proof of vaccination. It was a little yellow booklet from the World Health Organisation which showed your inoculation against yellow fever, typhoid and diphtheria. Without this you were not allowed into countries. Bring it back.
I’m fully vaxxed but the MyGov app won’t accept my driver’s licence as proof of identity so I can’t upload my vax certificate. We need a simple card proving that we’re fully vaccinated, frequently tested or exempt.
More and more businesses and organisations are insisting on vaccination. Good.
If you are stopped from working, recreating, seeing people and enjoying life you will be more inclined to be vaccinated. This is working well in many other counties which are using vaccine passports.
With 80 per cent of us vaccinated, we achieve more freedom. We can have fewer press conferences from harried pollies and health officials and those wonderful Auslan translators can have a highly-deserved rest.
The virus can concern us but not control us. Lockdowns will be less likely. If you are not vaccinated you are holding yourself and the nation back. We can also help developing nations to vaccination.
And yes, Prime Minister, it is a race to dance again, but not to the music of Guy Sebastian.
Peter Goers can be heard weeknights and Sundays on ABC Radio Adelaide.
