A 14-year-old Tweed girl has revealed her devastating heartache after she missed school for eight months due to severe bullying and as she faces eviction from her family home, along with her mum and brother.

The blows to the family have left the teen feeling “scared of what’s going to happen to us”.

Marleyah Wyborn, of Tweed Heads, launched a GoFundMe fundraiser online on behalf of her mother Lou and opened up about her tragic family situation.

“Hi everyone, my name is Marleyah, I am 14. Lou is my mumma and I also have a little brother named Harlow who is 11,” she said.

“I have written this on my own accord and asked my mum to share it to explain my family’s situation, because it has been so hard and I am scared about what’s going to happen to us.

“The past year has been an insanely difficult year for us. Last year I experienced bullying and threats which forced me to leave the school I was at. This left me without an education for eight months.”

Marleyah said she was “badly affected” by the bullying, which left her feeling “isolated”.

The teen said she had found a new school after being on a three-year wait list.

Just as things started to stabilise, things took another dark turn when her brother Harlow – who has ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) and autism – started suffering seizures. The illness forced her mum Lou to stop working.

“As you could imagine this was very traumatic for all of us. Images that I will never unsee,” Marleyah said.

“My mum lost her job quite recently despite her hard work, and a lot of it due to having to take time off because of the unpredictable nature of my brothers health issues, leaving all of us, especially mum under a lot of stress.

“Just when we thought things could not get any worse we were recently given a three month eviction notice. This added yet another weight to her shoulders.

We have since been looking for houses although it has proven hard because my mum has struggled to catch up on her rent as well as struggling to find a house that is affordable and can accommodate all of us. We have yet to get our good karma.”

Marleyah said her mum was not the type of person to “ask for financial help” but “I’m hoping someone can find it in their hearts to help us”.

The family has been contacted for further comment.

The fundraiser had raised more than $7000 of its $10,000 target by Thursday morning.
