It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Harbour City. As the late spring jacarandas finish blooming, twinkling lights will festoon our streets with festive colour to delight families and tourists.
When it comes to light displays, Sydneysiders are spoiled for choice, but with so much on offer, where should you start looking?
The classic Martin Place tree — the tallest in the state — is a firm favourite and has been decked out with 110,000 LED lights and more than 300 baubles.
Pitt Street Mall will twinkle under a canopy of lights, while over at St Mary’s Cathedral, the yearly illumination will begin on December 12.
David Jones’ flagship city store has also unveiled its Christmas window display with A Very Wombat Christmas and the beloved Carols in the Domain is scheduled for December 21.
