Sydney weather: Sunshine coming followed by light showers and chilly mornings

Sydney is in for a week of weather contrasts with crisp, sunny days in the middle of the week trailed by light rain and chilly mornings.

Sydney is in for a crisp, up and down week of weather with residents set to enjoy sunny midweek conditions after a breezy start to the week, before another burst of light rain moves in toward the weekend.

The city began the week on a bright note, with clear skies and a refreshing breeze on Monday with daytime temperatures expected to reach a pleasant 18C.

while overnight lows will dip sharply to around 6C, particularly chilly in Sydney’s western suburbs where early morning frost is likely.

This clear and cool pattern will hold through Wednesday and Thursday, delivering more dry, sunny weather and highs in the upper teens. The calm conditions midweek are tipped to be ideal for outdoor activity, but locals should rug up early, with crisp afternoons and light winds continuing.

However, the Bureau of Meteorology has flagged a return to damp conditions on Tuesday and again on Friday.

Cloud cover will increase on Tuesday, bringing a 40 per cent chance of light morning drizzle and a cooler high of just 14C.

Friday will bring a more widespread risk of showers, with a 60 per cent chance of rain and up to 4mm expected, accompanied by fresh breezes.

The unsettled conditions are expected to continue into the weekend as Saturday holds a moderate 40 per cent chance of light rain, while Sunday may begin with showers before drying out by the afternoon.

Despite the grey spells, temperatures will remain relatively mild, hovering between 18 and 19C on both days.
