Police are investigating a suspicious fire that caused significant damage to a tattoo parlour in Long Jetty, one of two separate blazes reported in the suburb in just over an hour.
Emergency services were called to the business on The Entrance Rd, Long Jetty, about 6.30am on Monday after reports of a fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews extinguished the blaze which caused extensive damage to the tattoo parlour with no injuries reported, although the fire is being treated as suspicious.
Specialist police have established a crime scene and are continuing their investigation.
Just an hour earlier, a car was also found engulfed in flames in the same suburb on the corner of Bonneview and Neale st in Long Jetty.
Police are investigating the causes of both blazes, however police do not believe the two are linked at this stage.
It comes off the back of four incidents in Western Sydney, where police are investigating a spate of suspicious fires targeting cars, a gym, and a shopfront in the early hours of Monday.
The fires occurred across several suburbs including Mount Druitt, Doonside, and Minchinbury, sparking fears of a co-ordinated arson spree.
One of the fires occurred at the Fitness Hub gym on Pitt St, Merrylands, which is known to be frequented by Parramatta Eels players such as Josh Addo-Carr.
Another arson attack led to two cars – a Mazda and BMW – being set alight in the driveway of the West Hoxton home and resulted in significant damage.
There is no evidence to suggest the Long Jetty incidents are related to any of the other arson attacks under investigation.
Police are urging anyone who was in the Long Jetty area at the time, or who may have dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact Wyong Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
