A man has fronted court after a Raptor Squad raid on an Illawarra home uncovered $1 million in cash – most of it squirrelled away in a roof cavity – plus drugs and a pair of nunchaku.
Robert Nikolovski was refused bail in Wollongong Local Court on Friday after the alleged discovery of more than $1m in cash and illicit drugs by Strike Force Meadow.
The strike force was established by State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad South to investigate the alleged drug supply activities of a 50-year-old man throughout the Illawarra, NSW Police said in a statement.
After extensive inquiries, Raptor Squad raided a Cordeaux Heights home at about 7am on Thursday.
During the raid, police allegedly found $228,050 cash, 434g of cannabis, 26g of cocaine, drug packaging, scales and a pair of nunchaku.
The police allegedly found a further $820,000 cash in two large bags in a roof cavity.
Nikolovski was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with dealing with property proceeds of crime of over $100,000, supplying prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, supplying prohibited drugs of an indictable quantity, and possession of prohibited drugs.
His lawyer applied for bail and it was refused in Wollongong Local Court on Friday morning and he will appear again in the same court on February 19.
