Police charge two boys after alleged break-in, stolen car chase on Mid-North Coast

Police allege three young offenders fled a burning car after a break-in and pursuit, leaving behind a 14-year-old mate who was suffering from a medical episode.

Mid-North Coast Police District officers responded to reports of a break-and-enter at a property on Zingara Close, Nambucca Heads about 5.20am on Saturday.

A white Hyundai Sonata was reported stolen and police sighted the sedan travelling on Giinagay Way, North Macksville, according to a NSW Police statement.

“Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however, when it failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated,” it’s alleged.

Police state three occupants ran from the vehicle on Cockburns Lane at Warrell Creek after it caught fire, while a fourth person, the 14-year-old boy, suffered a medical episode and remained by the car.

“He was assisted by police before he was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken Macksville Hospital for further assessment,” the statement read.

The boy was discharged from the hospital, arrested and taken to Kempsey Police Station.

The Hyundai was destroyed by the blaze, despite the efforts of the NSW Rural Fire Service.

Police also arrested a 16-year-old boy observed walking along the Pacific Highway at Eungai Creek about two-and-a-half hours after police were called to the break-in.

The younger boy was charged with larceny, carrying cutting weapon upon apprehension and breaching bail.

He has also been accused of two counts each of being carried in a car taken without consent of the owner and aggravated break-and-enter.

The older boy was charged with larceny and two counts each of being carried in a car taken without consent of the owner and aggravated break-and-enter.

The pair were refused bail to face Port Macquarie Children’s Court on Sunday. More information is being sought.
