New Sydney Football Stadium to be named Allianz Stadium in $36m deal
The new Sydney Football Stadium’s name has been unveiled as part of a multimillion-dollar naming rights deal.

The new Sydney Football Stadium will officially be known as Allianz Stadium as part of a six-year naming rights deal understood to be worth more than $36m.
And the links with the insurance giant’s other stadiums in Germany and Italy could open the door for top-tier European soccer teams Bayern Munich and Juventus to play in Sydney.
“This deal places Sydney as the jewel in the crown of global stadiums sponsored by Allianz,” Venues NSW and Allianz Stadium chief executive Kerrie Mather said.
Allianz also has sponsorship naming rights for stadiums in Germany, the US, Austria, Italy, Brazil and France.
Industry experts believe the six-year deal in Sydney is worth more than double the $3m a year, decade-long naming rights agreement for the old stadium.
“The former Allianz Stadium site has hosted some of our state’s most famous events from a Socceroos clash with Diego Maradona’s Argentina, sold out Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, Taylor Swift, Coldplay and U2 concerts, to historic Wallabies, Matildas, Sydney FC, Roosters, Waratahs, Rugby World 7s, State of Origin and US College Football encounters,” Ms Mather said.
The new state-of-the-art stadium is expected to be open in time for the NRL finals series in September and has a string of top-flight international acts and sporting events already booked including a Justin Bieber concert and the 2023 Women’s FIFA World Cup.
Tourism and Sports Minister Stuart Ayres said: “With state-of-the-art facilities, unrivalled viewing from the 42,500 undercover seats and the finest in-stadium food and beverage offering across the country, Australia’s best rectangular stadium is on track to open in time for the 2022 NRL Finals series.”
He said the $828 million stadium at Moore Park, which will be home to the Sydney Roosters, Sydney FC and the NSW Waratahs mens and women’s teams, has been purpose built for fans to be close to the action.
“There will be no better stadium experience and access to the world’s best sport, concerts and events than that on offer at Allianz Stadium in Sydney,” he said.
Allianz Australia Managing Director Richard Feledy said: “Allianz has been supporting Australians for over 100 years, and 2022 marks the tenth anniversary of our initial commitment to the original Allianz Stadium.
“Allianz Stadium, here in the heart of Sydney, is the latest important addition to the Allianz global family of stadiums.
“Through our stadium partnerships, we are committed to bringing communities together to enjoy an array of sport, international concerts and important cultural events,” Mr Feledy said.
