Mother and child hospitalised after being hit by car in Arncliffe in Sydney’s south

A mother and her eight-year-old son are in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car in Sydney’s south during the morning school run.

A mother and her child have been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after they were hit by a car in Sydney’s south.

Emergency services were called to Wollongong Rd in Arncliffe shortly before 8.45am on Monday following reports two pedestrians had been hit by a car.

Officers arrived to find an eight-year-old boy and his 35-year-old mother with serious injuries.

The pair were treated at the scene by paramedics before the boy was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital and the woman to St George Hospital.

Police are speaking to the driver, a woman, aged 43.

An investigation into the cause of the crash has commenced.
