A man wanted by police over hurtful graffiti, including anti-Semitic motifs, was allegedly caught red-handed by officers on patrol before being charged with 53 hate-related offences in Sydney’s inner west.

Police allege Felix John Jerzy Kiera, 21, vandalised buildings and political posters with hateful messages in the Erskineville, Newtown and Petersham areas from April 27 until his arrest on Sunday.

He allegedly spray painted swastikas and various offensive comments including anti-Semitic, homophobic and racist messages.

Police had released a CCTV photo of Kiera back on April 30 in the hope anyone with information about the alleged attacks would come forward.

But Kiera was actually arrested when he was allegedly caught in the act spray painting offensive messages while police were doing a night patrol along Crystal St, Petersham, about 12.20am on Sunday.

He was arrested and charged with 53 hate-related offences, including 21 counts of knowingly displaying a Nazi symbol without an excuse.

Kiera was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.
