A man has been assaulted and a 12-year-old child threatened during a terrifying home invasion in Edmondson Park overnight, with police now hunting the armed intruders.

A man was assaulted and a child threatened at gunpoint during a violent home invasion in Sydney’s southwest on Monday morning.
Police were called to a home on Ardennes Ave in Edmondson Park shortly before 1.45am following reports of a break-in.
Officers were the balaclava-clad trio, one armed with a firearm, forced their way into the property, where they threatened and assaulted a 48-year-old man and a 12-year-old child.
An 11-year-old was also inside the home at the time but was not harmed.
The intruders stole several items, including jewellery, before fleeing in an unknown vehicle.
The man sustained facial injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The two children were not injured.
Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
