Man charged after allegedly injuring police officers during arrest attempt in the Blue Mountains

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting two police officers and fleeing custody during an attempted arrest in the Blue Mountains earlier this week.

A man will face court after two police officers were injured during an attempted arrest in the Blue Mountains earlier this week.

Officers attempted to arrest a man on Railway Parade in Hazelbrook shortly before 10.20pm on Monday in relation to a police pursuit the previous week.

A Taser was deployed during the arrest; however, a woman – believed to be known to the man – allegedly intervened, allowing him to flee after he allegedly assaulted two male officers.

Both officers sustained minor injuries.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested the same day and charged. She remains before the court.

Following further inquiries, police arrested a 34-year-old man just after 6.10pm on Wednesday at a home on River Rd in Emu Plains.

He was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with three counts of assaulting a police officer in execution of duty causing aggravated bodily harm, hindering or resisting police and escaping police custody.

He also faces driving-related offences, including not stopping when directed, driving unlicensed, using an unregistered vehicle and failing to stop at a stop line.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Penrith Local Court on Thursday.
